Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike): "It was quite a battle today to establish a breakaway. I thought it was a good opportunity to try and go in. There was a big group going only just before the longer climb and I had a feeling the race would explode again there and then obviously it was for to strong climbers to get in there. Today was a bit of 50-50 for me as to whether it would end up being a chance. In the end, it was strong guys in the front and it wasn’t an opportunity for me. I think everybody was surprised that [Ben O’Connor] had such a big gap in the finale but it was so many twists and turns that I can understand that he stayed in the front. It was not easy to control. For sure, some teams underestimated him and now he has the reward with the red jersey."
