La Vuelta kicks off its particular season with two new official digital communication platforms: a Twitch channel and an official podcast. The Spanish tour will become the first grand tour to have an official account in the world’s main 'streaming' platform and will resume its podcast programming, launched during La Vuelta’s 2020 edition.
The Twitch channel will launch tonight at 9:00 pm (Spanish time), led by the hosts of ‘A pie de puerto’, a popular online cycling program. These will be broadcast periodically, each Thursday at the same time (9:00pm). During the year, the channel will analyse all La Vuelta-related news, chatting to its main players (not just the cyclists!). All the guests will be thrashing out the details of one of our country’s most important sporting competitions and one of the main international cycling events. The platform will also allow the interaction between all its participants through a live chat, bringing digital fans closer than ever to La Vuelta.
Alejandro Valverde will be the star of the official La Vuelta podcast launch. This platform was already active during La Vuelta 20, featuring a new episode every day throughout the race. In this case, the first program will be broadcast next Tuesday, the 20th of April, and will continue to be broadcast fortnightly, with a new podcast every second Tuesday, on the main podcast platforms (Ivoox, Spotify and Apple Podcasts).
Javier Guillén, Director of La Vuelta, highlighted the value of these two new communication channels, “especially for younger fans”. “We hope to reach new audiences and to adapt to all the new ways in which our followers follow cycling. It is also an opportunity for us to generate conversation around our race all year round”, he explained.
