Cofidis and La Vuelta have renewed their commitment until the year 2022. The financial company and the Spanish Grand Tour have signed a new agreement, extending their relationship for another three years, whereby the company will continue to be one of La Vuelta’s main sponsors.
The signature of said agreement took place in an event held this midday, in the presence of Juan Sitges, General Director of Cofidis España and Javier Guillén, Director of La Vuelta. Juan Sitges announced that “we are thrilled to continue our relationship with La Vuelta for another three years. We feel like we are part of this family and we would like to stay together for a long time”.
Javier Guillén said that “for La Vuelta, having the support of companies such as Cofidis is a guarantee of success and a joy. We wish to continue to grow together and to continue to make this race bigger and more attractive”. With this new agreement, Cofidis renews its commitment to the Spanish Grand Tour, which it has been supporting for 10 yearsthrough a “very satisfactory” relationship that goes beyond just sponsorship.
Besides maintaining its presence as a sponsor of the stage winner prize, as well as of other brand elements and visibility, Cofidis will continue to develop other activities within La Vuelta such as the Pedalón Solidario, an initiative that brings together healthy lifestyle habits, fun and social responsibility, transforming kilometres covered on stationary bikes in the Parque Vuelta of each stage, into money donated to corporate responsibility projects liked to cycling through the Alberto Contador Foundation.
The financial entity is also the engine behind La Vuelta Junior Cofidis, an educational-sporting project that aims to promote road safety education, the use of bicycles and healthy lifestyle habits among Spanish school students. The program, that has already trained 225,000 children over the past nine years, has the support of the Young Sports Foundation and that of several other companies that are committed to cycling, such as La Vuelta, the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), the Professional Cyclist Association (PCA) and the Alberto Contador Foundation.
With this renewal agreement, Cofidis shows its support to cycling, with which it has been closely linked for several years. The financial entity sponsors one of the most veteran teams in the international peloton, the Cofidis Solutions Crédits, founded in 1996. In Spain, besides supporting La Vuelta in the last 10 editions, it also sponsors the Spanish Royal Cycling Federation (RFEC), as well as events linked to cycling including Festibike and Madrid e-bike City. Since 2018, it also supports the Cofidis Team of Paralympic Cycling Promises along with the Spanish Paralympic Committee and the RFEC.
