Chris Froome (Team Sky), overall leader: “I certainly didn't need to attack, being in red already, but I'm gonna take advantage of it when my legs are feeling good. The most important thing for me was to keep pushing, try to open up the gaps. We'll see where we're at after the first rest day. I keep saying it everyday but, really, a massive thank you to my teammates, in particular today to Ian Stannard, Christian Knees and David Lopez. They worked pretty much the whole stage again to control the breakaway and keep me in red. If I'd been on any other team I think I would have lost the red jersey today because the guys would need a break. But the guys have been so strong.”
