Robledo de Chavela is home to NASA’s Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex, one of only three stations in the world that follow space missions. This centre, inaugurated in 1964, collaborates on space missions since it first provided support to Mariner IV on its voyage to Mars. The museum includes a Training and Visitor Centre, featuring an exhibition of space suits, spacecraft models and a moon rock from the Apollo XV – all of which bring the public closer to space science.
