The climb of Larra-Belagua made its successful La Vuelta debut in 2023. After losing any chance of winning the general classification the day before, Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel gave a true masterclass on the way up to the Navarre summit. After overtaking Hourcère and Larrau during the escape, the winner of the previous edition took off alone and went on to become the first winner of the climb to Ferial, eventually also going on to wear the mountain jersey.
